An almost completely invisible option, Invisalign® treatment straightens teeth without the need for brackets or wires. Using clear plastic trays called aligners, Invisalign® treatment gradually moves your teeth into alignment. Invisalign® Clear Aligners are totally removable to suit your lifestyle, offering superior convenience while allowing you to undergo treatment in a discreet fashion.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a system which uses custom-made removable braces or aligners to move the teeth. Each aligner is made to fit you. The wonderful benefit of Invisalign is they have no metal bands or wires; they are transparent and invisible! This allows you to have treatment without anyone knowing…unless you reveal all!
Invisalign is incredibly versatile and can be used to treat most common issues for children and adults. We use advanced 3-D computer imaging technology to visualise your treatment from start to finish through projection of tooth movement and animated visuals.
No matter the adjustment needed, whether it be a minor improvement or more extensive, Invisalign could be the ideal choice for you. This technology can be helpful in treating both crowded and widely spaced teeth, and can also alleviate overbites, overjets, under bites and, in some instances, cross bites.
The great thing about Invisalign is that it can be used in any part of your treatment or throughout your whole orthodontic experience.
How Does Invisalign Work?
Invisalign uses a whole system of transparent aligners that are shaped to suit you. Aligners are replaced every two weeks to help guide your teeth in the right direction. The aligners work to gradually reposition your teeth. This takes place over the period of your treatment.
There may be an initial feeling of discomfort with each new aligner, but this should pass within a couple of days and is a sign that Invisalign is effective. The duration of treatment will vary depending on the complexity of your case, and this will all be agreed between you and your orthodontist at the start of your journey. You will attend periodic appointment with your orthodontist throughout your treatment to check your progress.
Invisalign aligners are worn at all times expect when eating or brushing and flossing your teeth. One of the best things about Invisalign aligners is that you don’t have to sacrifice your favourite foods – you simply remove the aligner to eat and then brush your teeth before putting your aligner back on!
Our orthodontic specialists will guide you through the right treatment for you, helping to solve any issues that may arise as you progress along your Invisalign journey.
Invisalign for Teens
Invisalign Teen works by using transparent aligners shaped to suit, however it has been designed with teens in mind and has some unique features. These features include blue wear-indicators to help measure time worn. They also compensate for canine teeth eruption, second premolars and molars, plus there are six free replacement aligners to cover any loses or misplacements.
Invisalign Teen is designed to fit around the lifestyle of a teenager. They no longer have to fear social situations, school photos, being tagged online or having to miss out on activities that they enjoy.
The aligners begin work from the very first set – you and your teen can see their teeth become gradually straighter and healthier in real time!
There are many treatment options available for teenagers, depending on age and development stage of their teeth.
Some may be able to have the same treatment as adult patients, while younger patients will be treated with Invisalign Teen. The best course of treatment will be tailored to your teens needs at your consultation with your Invisalign orthodontist.
